One of the world’s top footballers, Cristiano Ronaldo, has made an undisclosed investment in Chrono24 GmBH, a prominent luxury watch company. This investment holds significant importance, considering that another notable stakeholder in the company is Bernard Arnault, the chairman of Louis Vuitton. As of 2021, Chrono24 GmBH was valued at over $1 billion and had a vast inventory of more than 5 million luxury watches for sale. While the exact amount of Ronaldo’s investment was not revealed, Tim Stracke, the Co-Chief Executive Officer of Chrono24, confirmed that it was a significant contribution. Market analysis by Deloitte suggests that the second-hand luxury watch market is expected to grow by 75% and potentially reach $39.6 billion. Similarly, Swiss-based analysis and consulting firm LuxeConsult predicts that sales of preowned luxury watches may surpass sales of new watches. Ronaldo himself is known to be a collector of luxury watches, including brands like Rolex, Jacob & Co, Girard-Perregaux, and Franck Muller. It is important to note that Ronaldo’s investment was not a marketing arrangement, and he has not signed any endorsement deal with the company in which he invested.
