The former Emir of Kano State, Mohammad Sanusi II, has asserted that it is too late for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, and other party stalwarts in Kano State to accept defeat. Sanusi made these remarks in a viral video during a lesson session where he discussed the acceptance of destiny.
Despite the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, advocating for Gawuna’s governance following legal developments, the Supreme Court recently set aside the lower courts’ rulings. Gawuna, in an interview with BBC Hausa, expressed acceptance of the apex court’s judgment as God’s decision.
Responding to Gawuna’s statement, the former Central Bank governor commented that the APC attempted to seize power through the court process without realizing that destiny had other plans. Sanusi emphasized the importance of accepting destiny, whether favorable or unfavorable, and criticized the attempt to manipulate the election outcome through the courts.
He remarked, “God is always on the side of the truth. He may give a tyrant a chance or two, but surely that would be short-lived.” Sanusi concluded by offering prayers for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s success and urged him to fulfill campaign promises, highlighting the essence of democracy in allowing voters to hold leaders accountable through the electoral process.
