Israeli forces have killed at least 17 people in a strike on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency.
Sunday’s attack on the UN-run Abu Oraiban school injured more than 80 people. This is the fifth attack on a school-turned-shelter within the last eight days. Palestinian Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal reported that the school was housing “thousands of displaced people” and that most of the casualties were women and children.
The Israeli military stated that its air force targeted “a number of terrorists operating in the area of UNRWA’s Abu Oraiban school building in Nuseirat.”
